XD yeah but i dont want that, necessarily. XP i'm not saying your comment was bad or unappreciated. just glad i wasn't the only one who saw it. ^_^
plus i want to get it to the point where i can do things like......idk.....just REALLY good...i have no training to base anything off of, so it'll be hard until i can afford to go to art school. but yeah....
i can do it with practice. <3

yeah. I kind of like the way my heads are a bit big. It adds to the originality. from a commercial perspective, realism might well be important. I find that manga often has bigger heads, while western (Marvel) style, is more realistic.
I think a bigger head infers that the character is youthful, even if u draw a wrinkly old man, a big head gives him a kind of youthful naivety or innocence.
well if you've seen spirited away i would argue that yababa is NOT childish looking at all. lol
However, yes, in anime they don't usually try to follow realistically, where as western style sticks so close it can be kind of....weird at times.
I don't care for some of the styles of marvel comics.....i dont want to know how big and muscle filled the heroes are. lol
then you have dbz.....the stuff before the Boo saga, around the cell saga mostly. There they have proportional, that almost resemble wester style if not for the way they did the faces. ^_^
Oh i love the way artists can manipulate things.
But I'm not looking for realistic, though I would like that as well.
I want to be able to draw anime as well. even fine art, which can be considered realistic if you want....but i'm talking more scenery.
which doesn't HAVE to be realistic. <3
back on the subject of anime. Most times the characters ARE proportional. where the head is not too big....most common now a days, would be to look at inuyasha on Cartoon network.
The main thing the japanese were going for when starting anime was the enlargement of the eyes. It made them seem.....more soulful? full of life....

my thoughts on western style comics: why does everyone have to be so hot and athletic?
I find that alot of manga all looks the same. However, that is to take nothing away from the brilliant manga like uzumaki, appleseed and many others, not to mention anime.
I appreciated dbz's original artistic style, but, u must agree, the story becomes repetitive: same kind of action scenec, and levelling up. Still, parts of it were brilliant, like the characters, the city in the sky etc...
yus parts of it were quite brilliant, personally i love piccalo.

and i loved the.....god, the white room...of endless space....where time was off and all that. always thought that was nifty.
and GOKU DIES TOO MUCH!
lol
he was the best part with his voracious appetite.
XD i remember the scene when they were eating before or after the arena challenges....XD omg, pic's and crallen? crollen...god i butcher everything! lol. their expressions had me laughing forever.
but yeah.....they are all hot and athletic. i dont know why.
but they are.
lol
XD i have spent a small fortune on anime. and im a stickler for styles and details.
if you look at clamp's series they have a specific style that screams them, but there are enough differences to make each series unique.
